Knowledge Malusi Nkanyezi Gigaba

Minister Gigaba was born on 30 August 1971. He holds a Bachelor of Pedagogics in Education, and a Master of Arts Degree in Social Policy from UDW. He joined the African National Congress (ANC), the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the ANCYL in 1990 and he was one of the founding members of the Education Students Society at UDW. He served as convenor of the Provincial Education Forum, becoming ANC YL president in 1994. He became a Member of Parliament for the ANC in 1999 and during that period he also served as a member of the Trade and Industry Portfolio Committee. Prior being Public Enterprises Minister, he served as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
